How to Remove Trotux.com

Trotux.com is browser hijacker that modifies homepage and search engine in Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. In some cases Trotux.com infects browser shortcuts. In this Instructable I will show how to remove this hijacker from your computer.

Step 1: Uninstall Trotux.com From Control Panel

In Windows 7, Vista, XP

Go to Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a program and locate program called "trotux - Uninstall".

In Windows 10 and 8

Right-click on Start button > choose Program and Features and locate program called "trotux - Uninstall".

Uninstall this entry. If it won't uninstall or shows some error boot Windows in Safe Mode and uninstall it from there.

Step 2: Scan Your Computer With Quality Anti-malware

1. Download AdwCleaner and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
2. Run AdwCleaner and remove found files, folders, registry keys.
3. Restart your computer
4. Install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and run full scan
5. Remove found threats and restart your computer.

Step 3: Reset Browser Settings (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox)

Reset Google Chrome:

1. Open Chrome.
2. In the top right, click on 3-bar menu icon.
3. Click Settings.
4. At the bottom, click Show advanced settings link.
5. Under the section "Reset settings,” click Reset settings button.
6. In the box that appears, click Reset.

Reset Mozilla Firefox:

1. Open Firefox.
2. In the top right, click on 3-bar menu icon.
3. Click on question sign icon (Help menu).
4. Choose Troubleshooting information.
5. In the top-right corner find Refresh Firefox... button and click on it.
6. Confirm by clicking Refresh Firefox button.

Restart all your browsers and check homepage and search engine settings.
