Last year, I replaced the Brick Mold around by back door. Today, I will show you how I did it.

Parts Needed:

Hammer

Pry bar

Knife

Tape Measure

Nails 8d or 3" long Finishing made for outdoor use

Air Nailer or just used the Hammer

Caulk for Door Trim

New Brick Mold Kit

Clamps

Ladder

Flat Screw Driver

Paint and Brush

Step 1: Tools

This is some of the Tools needed

Step 2: Removal

First take your Utility Knife around the outside edge where the old Caulking is. I used the Knife and then had to use a flat screwdriver to removed the old caulking.

Then place the Pry Bar, between the Door Jam and Brick Mold. Hammer and Pry the old Brick Mold off.

Clean the area where the old Caulking was too, where it was against the bricks.

Step 3: Cutting

Next step is to take the new Brick Mold pieces and cut them down to size. Either use your old pieces for reference or Measure with your Tape Measure. The new Brick Mold comes already Mitered, but in my case, I had to cut down the Top rail, which most of you will have too. Cut at a 45* angle.

The Top piece should be about 1/2" longer than the Door jam.

I also had to Ripped down one edge of the boards, because of the way my Door was installed, you might not have to do this.

After getting the Top piece to size, then you can measure for the side rails. Since they are already mitered, just cut the length off straight.

Step 4: Installing Brick Mold

After cutting the Top piece, I clamped it into place and then used my Air Nailer to attached it. If you have and extra helper, you want need the clamps, plus you you don't have a Air Nailer, just use your hammer and nails.

Install the Top rail first, then the sides. Use either 8d or 3" long Finishing nails made for outdoors.

As you can see in the one photo, I had to notched out a section for the bottom threshold.

Note if you are using a Hammer, instead of a Air Nailer, drill a pilot hole for your nails.

Step 5: Seal Gaps

Ok, now we need to seal the gaps. yours might not be like mine, but because my Door was put in where a Window used to be, I have bigger gaps around the Molding. I used some Great Stuff spray foam, to fill in those bigger gaps.

Let the spray foam dry, then trim with a Knife, then Caulk over these.

I also countered sink my nails and used some of the Caulk to fill over them.

Note if you don't have big gaps, you can just use the Caulking.

Step 6: Paint

I didn't included the pictures of Painting, but use outdoor Paint.

I put 2 coats of mine

Step 7: Finish

Well now we are done, look how much difference this makes. I hope this helps somebody that wants to replace there Brick Mold. This can be done in a weekend.
