Introduction: How to Replace an Atari 2600 Rubber Foot

Today, I will be showing you how to replace the rubber feet on the bottom of your Atari 2600 that prevent scratching to the surface that your Atari sits on.

Step 1: You Will Need:

To fix your Atari, you will need these parts: 1. An Atari 2600 joystick, mainly its rubber feet. Note: The reason I am using an Atari 2600 joystick is because it seems like the rubber feet don't serve much of a purpose anyway. 2. E6000; Superglue. Any glue should be fine as long as it does not melt rubber or plastic. 3. A damp paper towel. 4. An Atari 2600 with missing feet.

Step 2: Fix It!

First, take your Atari 2600 joystick and peel off one of the rubber feet. This should not be hard since the glue in there is almost 40 years old. Now, Turn your Atari upside down and put the flat, grooved surface on some books, just keep the switch panel from supporting Any weight because one of the chrome switches might break. Now, with damp paper towel in hands reach, put a small drop of glue in the hole on the bottom of your Atari where the rubber foot will go in. Insert rubber foot.

WARNING: MAKE SURE I repeat MAKE SURE that the hole you put the rubber foot in is not where A screw goes! Also, the hole that you put the foot in will be the closest to any corner on the bottom of the Atari; the foot should fit perfectly in the hole that you put it in. Immediately after applying the glue and setting the foot, use the paper towel to wipe off any excess glue because this brand of glue will NOT come off if it dries. Now just let the glue dry. Your job should look like the other feet (if there are any) on the bottom of the console.

Step 3: Your Done!
