Introduction: How to Set Up Texas Tech Email System on IPhone 4

Every student needs access to their eRaider emailing system. Unfortunately, not all students have 24-7 access to a computer. Therefore, installation of the system onto a cellular device is very beneficial as well as almost necessary. We chose the iPhone 4 as our model since iPhones are by far the most popular choice of today's society. Also, the models do not vary too much between upgrades, so users can easily use this instruction set for all of the iPhones.

Step 1: Powering Up

If your phone is not already turned on, please do so. Hold down the button on the top, right-hand corner of the phone until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Wait until your phone has loaded the home screen to begin.

Step 2: Getting Started

Now, find the "Settings" icon and tap on it.

Step 3:

Scroll down until you find the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" icon. Tap on it.

Step 4:

Tap on the "Add Account" icon.

Step 5:

You should see a list of the different mail servers that are supported on the phone. Select the "Microsoft Exchange" icon to proceed.

Step 6:

The process will take you to a screen where you will need to fill out the required information.

• Email—Your TechMail Address
• Password—Your Techmail Password
• Description—Whatever you would like to name your account, such as “School Email.”

Step 7:

Once you have filled that out, the screen will expand to include more required information.

• Email—Your TechMail Address
• Server—mail.ttu.edu
• Domain—ttu
• Username—Your eRaider Username
• Password—Your Techmail Password
• Description—Whatever you would like to name your account, such as “School Email.”

Step 8:

Your phone should indicate which items you would like to sync with your account. Turn the items “On” that you wish to have connected with your TechMail. Turn the items “Off” that you do not wish to have connected with your Techmail. Tap "Save" at the top, right-hand corner of the screen once you have done this.

Step 9:

Return to the home screen. Find the mail icon and tap on it.

Step 10:

It may take a few minutes for your messages to load. If they do not load within ten minutes, make sure your phone has good service or the Internet connection is strong. Once they have loaded, you are free to begin receiving and sending email! No more missed announcements from professors about homework assignments or cancelled lectures.

Step 11: Creating Alerts for Received Emails

Now, you may want to be alerted every time you receive a new email. To make sure that will happen or to customize your alert, go back to the "Settings" icon.

Step 12:

Scroll until you find the "Sounds" icon and tap on it.

Step 13:

Scroll until you find the "New Mail" icon under the "Sounds and Vibration Patterns" section.

Step 14:

You are free to choose from any one of the multiple sounds the iPhone comes equipped with, or you can use music tones from your library. The possibilities are endless, so have fun with it!
