Introduction: How to Set Up Your Apple Watch

Have you finally bought an Apple Watch and you want to acquaint yourself with the setup process? Or maybe you are out to gain knowledge of setting up an Apple Watch. Whatever be the case, the first thing you are required to do is understand the basic process.

There's an Apple Watch app already installed on your iPhone that allows you manage nearly all elements on your Apple watch. In case you don't know how to begin, I will walk you through the whole procedure. I am here to help.

The purpose of this write-up is to give an explanation of the processes involved in the Apple watch setup. The process is same for both the series of the Apple Watch- Series 1 and Series 2.

Step 1: PAIR YOUR APPLE WATCH WITH YOUR IPHONE

A screen will be displayed on the watch asking you to a select the preferred language. After choosing the language, wait a moment as the Watch to configure itself with those letters and words.

After that, another screen will pop out requesting that you open the Apple Watch application on your iPhone, which has already been pre-installed on your iPhone.

The Watch will now show a lovely blue bubble of undulating dots, while the camera on the iPhone will open up and direct you to the viewfinder on the watch. If the camera-based matching isn't working for any reason, you can tap the "i" catch on the watch to raise a six-digit code, which you can enter on your iPhone to combine the two gadgets together.

Step 2: CHOOSE YOUR WRIST PREFERENCE AND a FEW OTHER THINGS

The next thing you will be required to do is to make a choice of your wrist preference- whether right or left. The Apple Watch works on both preferences.

After you are done with that, you’ll be required to accept the terms, which I know you wouldn’t patiently read through.

After this, what you'll see is a series of setup notices for Diagnostics and Location Services. The setting for each of these is pulled from your iPhone. So if you turned on the Location for your iPhone, it would be available to the Watch.

Step 3: SETUP SECURITY, AND CHOOSE APPS FOR YOUR WATCH

After completing the wrist preference selection, you will nowbe asked set up a numeric passcode on your watch. It will also ask you if you will like to unlock your wrist watch with your iPhone. Your answer to the question should be “Yes”.

This means that for as long as your Watch is on your wrist, it will remain unlocked. When you take it off, you’ll need to enter the passcode to use it. When the watch is on your wrist, unlocking the phone will also unlock your phone.

The very last option that will be shown will be the offers to pre-install apps on your Watch extensively. This way you don’t get to do them yourself one by one. This is, however up to you.

Step 4: SET UP APPLE PAY

This is where you’ll find where you have the "Mirror my iPhone” option which means the cards you see on the phone will also show up on your Apple. This doesn’t apply to credit cards, though. Tap on the "Add Credit or Debit Card" to get it activated and approved for use from your Watch.

Whenever you want to pay, you’ll just need to double-click that button. The payment will only be made by the watch when it’s been attached to your wrist, and your iPhone TouchID has been unlocked. This is so that your watch won’t be used by anybody to make payments. However, if someone else puts your watch on and you unlock your phone, people will be able to use it to make payments.

Step 5: SET-UP ACTIVITY APP

There are few systems that Apple has. However, the one you'll be most interested in will be the Activity app. The Activity app helps tracks your general activity level with three daily meters: exercise, movement and time spent standing. It can also suggest to you to hold at some times, which is helpful.

You, however, won't be able to enjoy this feature until you set up the activity app. It's an excellent app as it is one little way of making sure that you're not lazy.

To get it, going, click on the Digital Crown until you see at your app grid, some circular icons set out in a honeycomb pattern

Step 6: CUSTOMIZE YOUR NOTIFICATIONS

By default, every notification you get on your phone also gets to your watch. However, if you don’t want it so, as it could be irritating when it's heard on watch, you can decide to turn it off. That is you can remove anything you wouldn't want to see on your wristwatch. It will still be on your phone anyway.

Apple Apps that have the Watch-specific settings are at the top, with their choices reflected underneath. You can also pick if you would like a red dot for the missed warnings.

Step 7: SET UP SOME MUSIC AND BLUETOOTH HEADPHONES

There are a few things that the watch can do without the need of the iPhone. Such functions include playing music. However, to do it, you’ll have to go to iTunes or the Music app on your phone to sync some music to your Watch.

You'll need to set up a playlist, after which you find the settings for Music in the Watch app on your iPhone. That’s where you will pick your playlist. You’re doing this last because it takes a little while for the synchronisation process to complete, that's why you're doing it now. Also, it needs to be sitting on the charger for it to happen.
