John Deere Combine Models: A Visual Guide
Step 1:
The first thing you need to do when switch from corn to beans is you need to switch the heads from the corn head to the bean head. You do this by unhooking the corn head. There are two PTOS, one on each side you have to unhook. Then you have to unhook the wiring and the lines by using the single point hook up.
Step 2:
Next- You have it ready to unhook you can go drop the corn head where you want it and go pick up the bean head.
Step 3:
Then you have the bean head on the combine, you have to finish hooking it up to the combine. First you start by hooking up the single point hook up. Then you hook up the PTOS on both sides. When that is all done it is all hooked up.
Step 4:
Then there is fours things you have to switch over. The first one in the front of the combine. You have to switch the belts form low to high so it runs faster. This runs the front beater and it grabs the material from the feeder house and throws it into the rotor.
Step 5:
After that you need to switch the door at the back of the combine. This door is on the inside of the machine and it controls how much material goes through the chopper. It is really easily to switch. You switch this by moving the lever on the outside of the machine. You also need to out the knives in the chopper. You do this by losing up the lock and push the lever down and the lock it again so it stays in place.
Step 6:
Then you have to put the chopper from low to high gear. You do this by losing up the belt and moving it from one pully to the other. There are to pulleys, one is small and big on one end and the other is big and small. By doing this is makes it run faster. You need to speed it up because it needs to chop up the material faster and it comes through the machine.
Step 7:
Finally, all that is left to do is check over the machine and grease it. Make sure there are no lose chains or belts. Check the oil make sure that is good. After all these steps are done you should be ready to go start combining beans.
