Introduction: How to Take Cornell Notes

Do you like getting an A+ on your tests? I know I certainly do! If you're looking for an easy way to do that, look at the steps below to learn how to take Cornell notes!

Supplies

Different colored pens/pencils, sheet of notebook paper

Step 1: Get a Blank Piece of Notebook Paper.

Step 2: Write the Date and the Page Number.

This should be written in the top right corner of the page.

Step 3: Write Your Name and the Subject You're Taking in the Top Left Corner.

Step 4: Write the Title You're Planning to Take Notes On.

The title should be on the first line in the center. This can be written a big larger to accentuate what the notes are going to be about.

Step 5: Draw a Vertical Line 1/4 of the Page From the Left Side.

Step 6: Draw a Horizontal Line 3/4 of the Page From the Top.

This line will intersect with the vertical line.

Step 7: Label Each Column.

One column will be labeled as "questions and important/key words". The other column will be labeled as "summary".

Step 8: Write the Main Idea of the Lesson.

The main idea can be written on the second or third line of the page.

Step 9: Read Your Source and Fill in the Blank Spaces on the Notes Page.

These notes should consist of dates, important concepts, or phrases that you, the reader, will want to remember/know.

Step 10: Test Yourself on Your Notes!
