Introduction: How to Mute Mac Startup Sound

Step 1: Turn on the Terminal

Open “Launchpad”> “Other”> “Terminals” to turn on the terminal.

Step 2: Enter "shutdown Mute" Code

1. Enter sudo nano /Library/Scripts/ in the Matthew bash.

2. The system will prompt for a password: Enter your power-on password.

3. Then enter


osascript -e 'set volume output muted 1'

4. After that, it will enter the window, this time by pressing the control + O, and then press Enter to save. Then press control + X to exit.

Step 3: Enter the Following Command

1. To restore audio code after powering on the system, enter: sudo nano /Library/Scripts/

2. The system will prompt for a password: Enter your power-on password.

3. enter the following code.

osascript -e 'set volume 4'

4. It will enter the other window, this time by pressing the “control + O” and then press “enter” to save. Then press “control + X” to exit.

Step 4: Enter the Enable Command

1. Enter a command: sudo chmod u+x /Library/Scripts/ to let the above code automatically execute the task.

2. Enter sudo chmod u+x /Library/Scripts/

3. Enter sudo defaults write LogoutHook /Library/Scripts/

4. Enter sudo defaults write LoginHook /Library/Scripts/

Step 5: Check That the Code Is Valid or Not.

Open Finder> Go to Folder

Enter: / Library / Scripts /, and check the folder for the existence of these two scripts.
