Introduction: How to Hit a Baseball

Here is a step by step process on how to successfully hit a baseball

Step 1: Gathering Materials

The first thing you should do is get a baseball bat. Get a bat that is not too heavy. I also recommend buying a baseball helmet to protect your head, and batting gloves to protect your hands. You can find all of these items at any sporting goods store.

Step 2: Find a Batting Cage

Look for a batting cage near your location.

Step 3: How to Hold the Bat

When you hold the bat your dominant hand should be on top of your other hand. Make sure sure to grip the bat at the bottom.

Step 4: Set Up Your Stance

Your knees should be slightly bent. Your bat should be held behind your head. Relax your elbows. Both feet should be pointed toward home plate, and you should be looking forward.

Step 5: Learning to Swing

When you swing the bat keep your elbows bent and start to shift your body forward.

Step 6: Practice Swings

Take a couple practice swings so you can get used to the motion of swinging the bat.

Step 7: Timing

Watch the baseball as it comes across the plate. Practice timing your swing as the ball crosses the plate.

Step 8: Eye Contact

Follow the ball with your eyes as it crosses the plate. It is important to follow the ball all the way until it connects with your bat.

Step 9: Connect and Drive

Now that you have the all the mechanics down it is now time to actually hit the ball. When your bat connects with the ball continue to drive the ball to add more power to your swing.

Step 10: Watch the Ball

After you have successfully hit the baseball you can now watch your job well done
