Introduction: How to Lock Files on Windows 10 Computers.

This instructable will teach you how to lock files on your computers that you want to keep private.

Step 1: Choose the Folder You Wish to Lock.

Navigate to the folder on your computer in which you wish to secure and open it.

Step 2: Create a New Txt Doc.

Inside the desired folder, create a new text document by right clicking on the empty space inside the folder.

Note: The name of this document does not matter.

Step 3: Copy the Below Text.

Open the link below and Copy and Paste the text into your newly made text document.

Step 4: Create a Password.

In the text document where you just pasted the text, find where it says "Your-Password-Here". Delete this text and enter your desired password.

Step 5: Save This File.

Once you have typed in your desired password:

Click File > Save As

Switch the File type to "All Files"

Change the File name to "FolderLocker.bat"

Click Save.

Step 6: Generate the FolderLocker.

Now, in the same folder, there should be a BAT File name FolderLocker.

Double Click on this file.

There should now be a new Folder called "Locker." This will be the folder in which you put the files you want to lock in.

You can now delete the original text document you created in step 2.

Step 7: Move the Files You Wish to Secure.

Move all files that you wish to secure into the folder called Locker.

Step 8: Lock the Folder.

Once you have moved all of the desired files to the Locker folder, double click on the FolderLocker File.

A command prompt will open. Type Y and hit enter.

If done correctly, the FolderLocker command prompt will disappear and so will your newly locked folder.

Step 9: Unlocking the Folder.

To unlock the folder just simply double click on the FolderLocker file again.

When the command prompt pops up, enter your password and hit enter. Your folder should reappear and should now be unlocked again.

Now you have a folder that you can actively store private files in. To continue locking and unlocking this file, repeat steps 8 and 9.
