So it has good demand for this business. This Industry has long history and it can be setup with less investment. You require only low technology for manufacturing. Basically sticks are rolled by hands. If you can invest much money you can buy machines also. There are many different types of incense sticks used for different purposes or on different festive days.
STEP 1: You'll Need Following Things to Made Sticks
Wood glue - In Sri Lanka and India used wood power call "patta" , "bummi powder" or Jigat power.
Charcoal powder - burning wood powder
Unburned Wood powder -sawdusts
Sandalwood powder
Paint
Perfumes - fragrance oils
Most used fragrance oils are (Perfumes)
- Patchouli
- Sandalwood
- Jasmine
- Rose
- Mogra
STEP 2: Supplying of Raw Materials
So in this industry have many opportunities to earn extra money I�ll tell steps by steps how to do its.
First you need bamboo sticks to make incense sticks.
A . How to make bamboo sticks.
You need following materials to make bamboo sticks
Bamboo tree
Hand saw
Large knife
Small knife and blades
STEP 3: Bamboo Nodes
STEP 4: Split to Slats
STEP 5: Sliver
STEP 6: Ready
If you desire to do this as a business, bundled in 1 kg bundles and can sell to makers.
B. Charcoal powder - burned wood powder
This is very easy ââ¬â you can collect burned wood and grind its. Coconut cell powder or bamboo burned powder are very good to use as charcoal power for sticks.
STEP 7: Hand Rall
first mixed the above materials to following ratio.
Wood glue + Charcoal powder +sawdusts + Sandalwood powder = 1:2:1:.5
mixed this all together and used water to prepare glue.

This is the most informative description I have seen so far. Simple and impressive. I can imagine in Australia using Grass Tree (Xanthorrhoea) to substitute for bamboo sticks as Xanthorrhoea has ready made hard straight sticks around which the paste can be rolled.
