I tried this with several phone chargers but none of them gets the tip hot. Could it be that they have a short circuit safety built in? Or not enough watt? They are mostly 5v 1 to 2 A. Thanks
no need for a resistor

i have read in a few comments that a current limiting should be added, but most if not all powersupplies have a current limitation internal. for this to work there should be more than 2A of current, given that an apple power charger is 5V the resistor should dissipate more than 10W, most resistors are rated 1/4W, also that kind of resistor would be bulky and will become warm, instead of the tip becoming hot making the tool useless

+1 Just for compensating the false idea of resistors.
Here you _must_not_ include a resistor. Any resistor equal, or larger than 0.1 Ohm will get the most of the voltage drop, so the needles will not get any, so the power will go to the wrong place.
But, You need current limiting to not burn Your house down.
* When using the specified kind of phone adapters, current limiting is in the adapter.
* When using 9V alkaline battery, the current limiting is in the battery, because it cannot give You too much current (based in chemistry).
* When You use a powerful power supply, set up current limiting, or decrease voltage to get the ideal voltage / amperage ratio.

Can someone tell me where to get the Needles? Ive looked saw some, but i wanna make sure I get the right ones.

I found them at animal farm supply places if that helps

I have a question, could I use heat shrink tube to hold needles instead of thread and glue?

FIY: ADD A CURRENT LIMITING RESISTOR

If not, it's possible for this to short out the power supply, which may cause fuse to blow up, and might cause a fire.... so for your own sake, add a current limiting resistor. You can calculate the value you need using Ohm's Law

Should the resistor go between the needles and the battery BEFORE the positive connects to the needles, or AFTER the needles? Also, how would you calculate the resistance needed?

You can connect it either way, it work both way. But personally I prefer to connect it before the needle. You can calculate the value of the resistor using Ohm's law
with out a current limiting resistor between the needles and the supply, the needles will act like a short which will pull as much current from the supply as possable. this is not good! in the case of the apple charger being used as the supply, it is very likely it has current limiting built in. but for the people who will try to build this with a different supply it is good to include.

Hey... great idea. I tried building this myself but the entire syringe
needle got so hot that it burnt the wooden pencil and the threads almost
instantly. Is there any way to control the temperature and limit the
heat to the tip? Perhaps I should use a voltage divider or something to
limit the current.... right?

Im not sure what i did wrong but this didnt work, i could be the old charger i used?

You need to renew your domain . looks like it has expired 11 days ago. :/
Just so you know.
Oбнови Домен . ;)

I really like this! Could you use more or less than 10 watts, would that affect how hot it gets? What would a limiting resistor look like in the circuit?

More watts is always better

Very neat idea! How do the needles get so hot but not melt / burn the thread, glue and heat-shrink?

Espectacular idea y muy sencilla de realizar ademas de lo económico de la propuesta, gracias por compartir.
