Introduction: How to Build a Simple Snowskate - Snowboard - Skenkboard
Hello , today we will be showing you how to make a simplified snowskate with very little tool and materials,
These are skenkboards, it is simply a skateboard with 2 metal runners. bolted or screwed to it. concaved appropriately, it is able to achieve high speeds and also turns like a skateboard it is strapped to your feet and it is really good fun,
Heres the skenkboard in action. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eysculwGThs
right thats, the basics lets make one,
Step 1: The Runners
The runners are by far the most important part of this build, if time and care is taken , you will be able to make something that flies on snow,
The runner basically diverts all the snow that you are compressing, in one direction. This means you are more stable and you can control which way you want to go,
Different runners sizes, shapes and materials have different qualities,
Wood isn't that fast and needs treating
Plastic is easy to bend and can be found anywhere
Metal may be difficult to bend. but is very fast on snow,
Big runners are fast but are hard to turn,
Smaller runners are fast but ok to turn
Wide flat runners are fast but easy to turn
Square bar goes fastest
Round bar carves ok
Flat sheet carves easily
After deciding what materials to use for your runners, its time to bend it, either by using force or heat try to achieve a smooth curve that matches the curve of the skateboard, it is also important to keep the middle of he runner as straight as possible,
Now you are ready to drill. 1st notice where the skateboard and runner are most closest, to wards the curves of the skateboard, this is where you drill. Drill 4 holes and countersink them must make sure that these hoes are paralel, or your Skenk wont ride straight, you can just use screws or you can use you old skateboard bolts to attach your runners using the holes you have just made. once all done up tight, cut off the excess leaving a little more at the front than the back. then wax up all the bottom of deck and the runners.
Step 2: Straps!
This is how it works. You slide your both feet in toes pointing outwards. And when you straighten your feet the straps become tight. This means if you want to bail you point your toes out and jump off. But as long as you hold our feet straight it will stay to your feet.
next, how to ride the thing.
!
Step 3: How to Ride a Snowskenk
You have done all your hard work and you cant wait to hit the snow. Now how do we ride it?
To turn on a Skenkboard you need to lean back and pick the front end up and turn similar to a kick turn on a skateboard.
Or you can jump and turn.
Or you can power slide to turn.
However to go really fast you have to find the Skenkboards sweet spot. this may take some riders a while to find, and it is simply picking up the front end just ever so slightly out of the snow, and distributing you wait towards the back end respectively.
and that is it enjoy your Skenkboard and send your Skenkboarding clips to me at Youtube.

Any questions?
