How to Make a Fishing Arrow.

Today I will be showing you how to make a fishing arrow out of very basic materials which can be used with a bow or sling bow to catch surface swimming fish such as alligator gar, carp, snake-heads, tench etc. This arrow is not compatible with the next sling-bow I will be posting, but when I get the time I will post one that does work with it.

Step 1: Things You Will Need.

To make this you will need an arrow, some 10 or 20 lb line, some duct or insulating tape, araldite or some other kind of epoxy, a swivel, a pair of pliers and a medium sized safety clip.

Step 2: The Spokes.

Take the safety clip and cut off about half of the wire on each side as shown.

Step 3: Attaching.

To attach the pin to the arrow, first take out the arrow head and slip the loop in the pin over it as shown. Next, using the pliers, bend the two bits of pin wire down while still keeping them facing outwards. You can now fit the head back into the arrow as shown in pics 3 and 4.

Step 4: Gluing the Line.

Mix a small amount of araldite on a piece of paper, and use it to glue the head and spokes back into the arrow as shown in pic 2. Now tie a 3 foot length of the fishing line in the gap between the head and the body as shown.

Step 5: Finishing Up.

Thread the swivel down the line to the arrow head, then hook the other end of the line over the clip as shown in pic 4 and use duct or electrical tape to keep it in place.

Step 6: The End.

What if you put the line around the nock instead of three tip? Wouldn't it be easier tip pull it in?

very nice instructable and great use of everyday items. i dont think that it would work against gar due to the sharp edges of their scales and it would cut the mono in no time at all. would work great on other fish for sure.
