Introduction: How to Make the Throwing Spoon
I was working at a Boy Scout summer camp and I got a little bit bored so I fashioned the throwing spoon from some random spoon. I only have one picture of the spoon in a tomahawk throwing bored.
Step 1: Making the Spoon
Any metal spoon will work as long as you can flatten it with a hammer(see edit).
I used a cafeteria spoon that was a light metal then flattened itI used a hatchet sharpening file on the bottom point and top rounded part.
(Edit 1-06-2016): this piticular spoon is a stainless steel spoon that would not flatten under my rounded hammer thing, I had to use a bench vice to sort of round it and even then it wouldn't go completely flat. The spoon in the main picture is a different kind of spoon material. However the stainless spoon held an edge, while I was visiting my grandparents at their Wisconsin lake house I threw the spoon at trees and the driveway covered in thick ice and blocks of snow. The spoon went into the trees and stayed there, it chipped the ice and even stuck a few times, and cut the blocks of hardened snow clean in half (so satisfying). And all the while keeping an edge only go stainless if you have the tools to do so.
Step 2: Throwing the Spoon
1. Walk 10 normal paces away from said target
2. Turn to face target
3. with the bottom point of the spoon firmly grasped between the Base of your pointer finger and thumb if your dominant hand
4. Take a step forward with the opposite foot
5. In one fluid motion keeping your wrist as straight as possible (no flicking for you knife throwers out there) and like you are throwing a knife, throw really hard but controlled
6. Let go so that the spoon is pointing straight at the target
7. You will miss
8. Remember to keep the straight arm and adjust your angle
Step 3: The Spoon Shown
(This was not staged, I actually threw it from 10 paces)

I would really say that I tried this ones when I was pretty bored. I completely my spoon by heating in a fire and hammering it. I always watch forge and fire back then so I kinda trying if it will work. I kinda create some edge over it,but the problem is I dont really have the tool to create a longer lasting edge. So, I search the net again out of boredom and come across this post, remembering how happy I am when it got stuck on the board, I'm even imagining at the time creating a game like dart with it.

Dude. I’m not gonna lie, I wrote this like 6 years ago and I cringe when I think back to when I wrote this, I’m glad someone is able to have fond memories about it, haha. As for the forge, forget it. You’ll only mess with the heat treatment of the steel. I recommend going to goodwill and getting a bunch of cutlery knives. It’s a lot of fun and you don’t need to sharpen them. If you are still set on trying the spoon again, it’s very possible to do it using only a hammer and a file. Keep up the creativity.
Remember, don’t listen to anyone who isn’t helping you get it done. :)

Try your best to not let the flat part turn over because it will pretty much just stop mid air

It's extremely hard to get it to stick every single time (I can't, maybe you can) but extremely satisfying with every successful throw

Still, a very cool idea.

It took me 10 tries to get that shot. I actually lost it in the grass for an hour and spent an hour looking for it.
