Introduction: How to Set Up Windows 8/8.1 File History Backup

Many users update their computer system to Windows 8/8.1 for having better experience. However, many users don't know use the "File history" features to backup data in Windows 8/8.1. This feature can help us back up data in our computer regularly, when system update, or other situations that may cause data loss happen, we can use this feature to get back lost data.

File Histoary is different from Windows backup. It aims at personal file backup in Windows OS. Such as your libraries, files on your desktop, your contacts, and your browser favorites,etc.

Unfortunately, you lost data in Windows 8/8.1, you can use File History to get back them:

Click the "Home" button and click the “History” icon on the right side of the Ribbon. Alternatively, you can head back to Control Panel > File History and click "Restore Personal Files" on the left sidebar. Then,the big green circular arrow will restore them to their original location, but you can also choose "Restore to" from a right-click menu or from the Settings gear to specify a target folder for the restored files.
