Intro: How to Tie a Reef Knot

This is how you tie a Reef Knot. This knot is use to tie two cord of the same diameter together. NOTE : NEVER USE IT AS A BEND

STEP 1:

Bring two ends of the same cord together , in this case right over left

STEP 2:

Tie a half knot and see how the two entwined knots part spiral to the right , clockwise

STEP 3:

Bring the two ends back together , but this time left over right

STEP 4:

Tie a second half knot. Note that the two entwined parts helix to the left , clockwise the opposite of the half knot

Thank you! This "mysterious" knot is what my "solar powered clothes dryer" (clothesline) is tied with and over the years, they've become loose. I was at a loss at how this seemingly simple knot was tied. Now I can tighten up the lines on my solar powered clothes dryer and use it for another 15 years!
