Introduction: IKEA LACK Coffee Table

I had a couple LACK floating shelves and needed a small coffee table. Here's what I did.

Step 1: Parts & Tools

The parts are minimal:

  • Two LACK shelves
  • four 1" bolts with nuts
  • four 1" wood screws
  • Two Grundtal legs. I used 8".

Tools:

Power Drill
Ruler/tape measure
wrench, socket set, or other means of putting nuts on screws

Step 2: Shelf Assembly

Use the nuts and bolts to attach the mounting brackets together by their flat sides. Be careful to get the screw holes on the posts facing the right way to attach both shelves.

Step 3: Secure Shelves to Brackets and Attach Legs

Use the wood screws to secure the brackets to the shelves using the existing holes. I used a larger wood screw than those that came with the shelf as the shelf holes had stripped out from previous installation. The gap between the shelves will be slightly uneven, but not horribly so.

Measure carefully to avoid hollow parts of the shelf and attach the legs.

Turn over and enjoy.
