Introduction: IT PC Build

These are the simple steps of building a PC. These are the materials you will need...

1. Motherboard

i. CPU

ii. RAM

iii. Heat Sink and Thermal Paste

2. Power Supply

3. Case

4. Fans

5. Hard drive

6. Cables for the Hard Drive, Power Supply, etc

7. Anti-Static Mat

Step 1: Get Your Motherboard

While working with the motherboard you will need the static mat and wrist band so you will not damage it while the building process.

Step 2: Insert Your CPU and Heat Sink

You will need to put your CPU into your motherboard. Make sure you have a compatible CPU that can go into your motherboard. There are two main kinds of CPU, PGA (AMD) or LGA (Intel). AMD CPU will have pins on the CPU and the motherboard will have a place to insert them. Intel CPU will have no pins on them and the motherboard will have pins on it to make contact.

Step 3: Insert the RAM

Insert the RAM into the motherboard and make sure it is compatible and facing the right way. There will be notches on the RAM slots insuring that you will place them in the right way.

Step 4: Test If It Will Boot

Before you start putting the motherboard into your case you should test if it can boot. All you need is the power supply and make sure there is a speaker on the motherboard. You need to plug the power supply into your mother board with the 24 and the 4/8 pin connector. If you have done this right your mother board should beep once you power it on.

Step 5: Put the Motherboard Into the Case

After you get the post beep you are ready to put everything into the case. The first thing you can do is to screw in the standoff screws into the right place so you can put the motherboard into place. After screwing in the standoffs and inserting the motherboard into place you can screw on the motherboard screws into the place where you put the stand offs at.

Step 6: Hook Up Power Supply and Storage Device

After you get the motherboard into place you can also screw in the power supply. After inserting the power supply into the case you can now hook up the motherboard to it like in Step 4. After you get that done you can also insert the storage device into the slot shown in the picture above. With using the clip you can secure it to the case. Make sure you plug this into the power supply and use a SATA cable to hook it up to the motherboard.

Step 7: Connect the Graphics Card

You need to hook up the graphics card into the PCI slots. They look like RAM slots but do not have clips and are usually next to the CMOS (Circle Battery). After you have plugged in the graphics card make sure you secure it with a screw.

Step 8: Plug in the Cables

After you have completed the previous steps you can start inserting the cables for the fans, and case cables. You can plug the case fan cables into the SYS_FAN1 and SYS_FAN2; they will either have 3 or 4 pins. You can also connect the CPU fan into the port labeled CPU_FAN; this also could have 3 or 4 pines. Make sure you plug in the case cables or else the USB and Audio jacks on it wont work.

Step 9: Finish the Build

Close up the computer by screwing the open end shut. After that, plug in the computer to power and hook it up to a monitor. If you have installed everything correctly you will hear a beep from the motherboard and your operating booting up on the monitor. If you computer does not turn on go back through this guide to see what you missed. If your computer did turn on and work look around its files to if everything is running correctly.
