Introduction: Ikea SANNAHED LEGO ShadowBox Display

Build a fun and beautiful LEGO ShadowBox Display from Ikea's SANNAHED frame

Step 1: Step 0: Materials Needed

  • 1 x Ikea SANNAHED Frame 9 ¾x9 ¾
  • 1 x 32 studs x 32 studs LEGO or LEGO-compatible baseplate
  • cutting mat
  • utility knife

Step 2: Step 1: Trim Baseplate to Size

The Ikea SANNAHED is almost the same size as a 32x32 studs baseplate (10" x 10"), but the internal dimensions is just a bit smaller, at 9 ¾ " x 9 ¾ ".

To fit the frame and still have all the studs centered, trim off half a stud's width from all 4 sides of the 32x32 studs baseplate. Sacrilegious!? ... maybe

Step 3: Step 2: Fit Baseplate Into Frame

Voila! Now the baseplate fits the frame perfectly. You could optionally add an insert / mat to cover up some studs for a cleaner look, only exposing studs needed for mounting.

Step 4: Step 3: Build Away

Mount your favorite LEGO minifigures or builds in the shadowbox for a beautiful and fun display.
