Introduction: Illuminated Clock
I needed a clock that looked cool. Blue LED's look cool. Do the math. The basic idea is to have a clock that is lit from the frame.
Step 1: Stuff!
You will need:
- Clock (Bought from IKEA, has a translucent frame)
- LED's (blue, had 6, used 3)
- Wires
- 9 volt battery
- 9 volt battery clip
- Switch
Step 2: Place LED's
Put the LED's where you want them. I placed three at places around the frame using blu-tac. Make sure that the led's are placed with the correct polarity (neg to pos).
Step 3: Wiring
Connect the led's together with insulated electrical wire (neg to pos of led's). Protect the connections with electrical tape. I also wired in the switch. Leave 2 leads hanging (a positive and negitive). Connect the battery to make sure the curcuit works.
Step 4: Let's Go Ad a Battery -do Dah, Do Dah
Attach two wires to the ones hanging from the clock, long enough to reach the floor. I used an old USB cable. It already had 2 wires inside it (it was power only). Attach a battery clip to the other end.
Step 5: Done!
So there you go, a clock that lights up. Plug in a 9v, flick the switch, and you're ready to go!
