Intro: Insanity (or Madness) Wood Board Game

This wooden toy is a perfect project to get a youngster started in woodworking. It's such a simple project that one could make several of them and give them away as gifts, with a little print out of how to play. Just a thought.

Anyways, it's a really simple game. There are two sets of pins (fours pins of each color), and the object is to get Set A across the board into the spaces occupied by Set B, and vice versa. The only rules are the you can only move forwards, no backward movement at all. And you can only move one space at a time, or jump one pin at a time. After just a few moves, you'll probably be trapped in. It's a lot trickier than you might think.

This is a one-player game, like several others in this family of games.

STEP 1: Build Your Board

It couldn't be a simpler board. You just need to cut a small piece of wood and drill ten holes in it. I measured my holes a half inch apart from one another. Then drilled the holes, not all the way through the wood, but deep enough to keep the pins from falling over.

Then set them up and get started playing the game.

Have fun!
