Introduction: Interactive Storybook (#15)

About: Grandma Van uses the Instructables website to share little print-and-mail books. Once in a while, she has other fun things to share.

Monkey See, Monkey Do will take a little bit of time to assemble, but it is a lot of fun!

Step 1: Print Pages 1-4.

Print pages 1-4 on letter-sized paper, using lightweight card stock if possible.

Use these settings: landscape orientation, flip on the short edge, double-sided.

Step 2: Print Pages 5 and 6.

Print pages 5-6 on letter sized paper, using lightweight card stock. Print only one side of the paper.

Step 3: Personalize the First Side of the First Sheet.

Add a personalized greeting on page 5.

Step 4: Personalize the Second Side of the First Sheet.

Add a name on page 15.

Add either "he" or "she" on page 6.

Step 5: Personalize the First Side of the Second Sheet.

Add the child's address on page 3.

Step 6: Personalize Sheet 5.

Add a message on the small rectangle at the top. This is from the child to the Monkey.

Step 7: Personalize Sheet 6.

Add a message on the small rectangle at the top. This is to the child, from the Monkey.

Step 8: Cut the Figures Out.

Cut out all of the pieces on sheets 5 and 6.

Step 9: Gluing: Round 1a.

Glue the two sets of arms together. Press tightly. Allow to dry completely.

Step 10: Gluing: Round 1b.

Fold the large brown rectangle so that the color is on the outside. Glue together. Allow to dry completely.

Step 11: Gluing: Round 1c.

Fold each envelope as shown. Place a strip of glue as shown. Fold. Put something heavy on top. Allow to dry completely.

Step 12: Gluing: Round 1d.

Fold the jumping monkey rectangle as shown. Glue. Put something heavy on top. Allow to dry completely.

Step 13: Gluing: Round 1e.

Fold the monkey eyes rectangle as shown. Glue. Put something heavy on top. Allow to dry completely.

Step 14: Cut, Fold, and Sew the Mini-book.

The mini-book in on sheet five. Cut it out, fold, and sew.

Step 15: Cut the Story Sheets.

Cut the sheets in half as shown.

Step 16: Gluing: Round Two.

Line up the sheets as shown.

Step 17: Gluing: Round 2a.

Glue the monkey's arm on page 16.

Step 18: Gluing: Round 2b.

Glue the larger envelope on page 14. PUt the larger letter inside.

Bonus: put a tiny bit of velcro to close the envelope.

Step 19: Gluing: Round 2c.

Glue the monkey's tail on page 12.

Note: if you have a matching piece of felt, it would be better than the paper!

Step 20: Gluing: Round 2d.

Fold and glue the monkey's arms on page 10.

Step 21: Gluing: Round 2e

Slide the jumping monkey (previously glued) onto the cardboard rectangle.

Put a strip of glue on either end, as shown. Glue on page 7.

Step 22: Allow All of This to Dry Thorougly!

Step 23: Flip the Pages Over.

Line up as shown.

Step 24: Gluing: Round 3a.

Glue the monkey's small envelope on page 15.

Step 25: Gluing: Round 3b.

Glue the monkey's legs on page 8.

Step 26: Gluing: Round 3c.

Glue the monkey's hat on page 9.

Step 27: 3d.

Put glue on the monkey's head, making sure NOT to get any glue on the ears.
Glue right over the existing head on page 6.

Step 28: Gluing: 3e

Glue the folded and glued rectangle on the back of the "eyes" monkey, as shown.
Allow this to dry thoroughly.

Step 29: Gluing: 3f.

Place glue on the back of the hands holding a book. Carefully glue in place.

Step 30: Gluing: Round FOUR!

Apply glue, as shown, on the back of the page 11 monkey.
Carefully insert the "eyes." Glue on the page. Allow to dry completely.

Step 31: Stack.

Stack the pages in order.

Step 32: Fold.

Step 33: Sew.

Step 34: Add Props.

Place the mini-book in the pocket on page 13.

Place the letters in the envelopes on pages 14 and 15.
