Introduction: Intro: How to Change Oil

Hi, my name is Tom Cotton. I’ve been changing oil on my
family cars for 10 years. I’m going to show how to preserves the life of a car by changing its oil. I am going to show the simple step by step process on how to complete this task. Once completed the car is good for the road.

Step 1: Step 1: Gathering Tools

The first step for any process is having the correct tools
to get the job done. Here’s a list of tools required for the job. Car ramps/jack; The car will need to be lifted into the air for access underneath. Wrenches; For loosening and tightening the bolt and filter. Crawler; A crawler will allow for an easier working space. Oil/oil filter; Out with old, in with the new. Bucket; This will catch the old oil.

Step 2: Step 2: Drain the Oil

First look under your car to find the drain plug. The drain
plug is a large bolt located under the oil pan at the bottom of the engine. Once located, place a 5-gallon container under the oil drain plug. Now unscrew the oil drain plug with a wrench. Let the old oil drain and try not to drop the bolt into the oil bucket.

Step 3: Step 3: Changing Oil Filter

Next, fasten the oil plug back into place. Now unscrew the oil filter. Then empty the oil from the filter into the 5-gallon waste oil container. Put a new filter into the engine where the old one was.

Step 4: Step 4: Add New Oil

Next add the new oil into the engine. Be sure to use a funnel!

Step 5: Step 5: Double Check

Now, check for leaks from the oil drain plug and around the filter. Finally, you can check the dipstick to make sure the correct amount of oil has been added. You are now ready to drive!
