Introduction: Ironing Board Storage Hack

About: Full time scientist and amateur maker. Looking to improve my making skills, I spend most of my free time renovating or working with cameras or wood. I'm hoping to learn plastic, metal and leather working skill…
We recently built a new house, and our kitchen designer was really trying to up sell us on stuff we didn't need. One example would be a cabinet for our ironing board, when it can stay behind the laundry door no problem. Here's a easy hack so that it doesn't fall on you by surprise.

Step 1: You Need

  • 3M wall sticker
  • Rare earth magnets
  • A wall

Step 2: Step 1

First we need to check that our ironing board is magnetic by seeing if the magnet will stick to it. Next I place the magnets on the inside of the ironing board legs and place it against flat the wall. We're checking the thickness of the gap relative to the height of the magnet. You can see my magnet is a perfect fit. Next I clean the wall, visualize where everything goes and put the wall sticker up.

Step 3: Step 2

Next I put the magnets onto the wall sticker, cut out a piece of food wrap and place it on top. This cover softens the adhesion between the ironing board and the wall, it also protects the magnets from coming off. Next I place the ironing board against the wall check that it has the right amount of stick (adjust with number of magnets) and we're done.
