Introduction: Jigsaw Puzzle

Ever get tired of the flimsy store puzzles that cost so much? Here is the solution to your problem. This instructable will teach you how to make your own, cheap, one-of-a-kind, jigsaw puzzle.

Step 1: What You Will Need:

- sheet of plywood

- marker/pen

- band saw/scroll saw

- paints and paintbrushes

- tape measure

- sandpaper

- time and effort

Step 2: Measuring

Decide the size of your puzzle. I chose 1ft. by 1ft. Measure it and then mark it.

Step 3: Cut Along the Lines

Take it to your band saw/scroll saw, then cut along the lines you have made. I didn't realize until it was too late, that the bandsaw's blade wasn't far enough out. (Advice- make a smaller puzzle) If you made to big of a puzzle, you will need to do what I did. I started off cutting funny-shaped slices, (See 1st picture.), but then realized that you could just keep cutting slices off the end until you are able to cut along the lines you marked. Please excuse the lighting of the pictures; it was in the evening and it wasn't very bright in the shop.

Step 4: Decorate

Paint. I used acrylic. You may also want to try printing a picture and gluing it on.

Step 5: Cut Into Pieces

Cut the plywood into pieces. You can cut them in any way you want, but you might be able to get more creative with a scroll saw. The more pieces and the smaller they are, the harder the puzzle. (Tip: Take a picture of it before you cut so that you know how it's supposed to look when put together.) You may want to sand the cut pieces to avoid splinters.

Step 6: Finished!

Build your puzzle. Enjoy!
