Warning: Beware of injury with flying objects. (spinning a club too much, too hard, bad throw direction, speed, etc)

Self: when solo juggling, every pass is considered a “self”. This term will be used when passing “selfs” while waiting until the next pass to your partner.
Pass: juggling with two people or more, throw from your hip directed towards to other person.
Rhythm: the flow/beat of the passing pattern that will sync up your timing

Step 1: The Necessities

Time Required:
Depending on ability, a half hour is necessary for successful passes.

Items Necessary:
4 arms
6 identical juggling clubs

Conditions Necessary:
Level Ground, preferably grass to avoid club damage
Calm, windless weather
Open Space
Ample lighting

Step 2: Warming Up

Warm up by solo juggling. You could do some arm and wrist stretching for extra measure.

Step 3: A Single Club

Practice throwing a catching a single club between two people
-Throw from your hip not in front of your body
-Aim to your partner’s left shoulder
-one rotation per pass

Step 4: Two Clubs + Terminology

Add another club (two clubs total) and pass and catch at the same time
-In order to start at the same time, both jugglers should say out loud, in synch, the words, “up” while raising the clubs up, “down” for the beat before the throw, and then pass from the hip on the way back up.

Step 5: Four Clubs + Terminology

Each juggler should have a club in each hand (four total clubs). This will help you prepare for catching a club while passing to yourself. This will make you throw a self pass from your left hand to your right hand before receiving the club in your left hand from your partner. After receiving the pass from your partner and throwing a “self”, stop and repeat until you are comfortable with these motions.

Step 6: Six Clubs!

Add the last two clubs, use the terminology, and keep count of your throws by saying out loud, “pass, self, self, self, pass, self, self, self, pass, self, self, self, pass, etc…
-Warning: Throwing around six clubs increases the likelihood of disastrous Injury. You were warned.
-Dropping happens, pick up the club in the time you have when doing self passes. Be quick and pick it up and throw it in time to recover!
-Make eye contact with you partner and use your vision to catch and throw. This may help develop a rhythm and good juggling vibes.

Step 7: Strive for Five

Don’t get discouraged! Practice a lot, concentrate on good throws, rhythm, and communication. Encourage constructive criticism with each other’s performance. Let each other know if the passes have too much spin, poorly thrown, too fast, etc.

Once you achieve 5 passes in a row without dropping, you have succeeded! Way to go! You will only improve! Have fun!

Congrats! You are juggling six clubs with 2 two people. How fun! Tell your friends!
If you know a trick, throw it out there and see if it works.
