Introduction: KIC Entry: Seleziona - SIHM2
This is my entry for the Knex innovations contest. SIHM2 stands for "Seleziona's Innovative Horizontal Mag (gun) 2." Two being my second try on this type of weapon.
Basically, this a 8 round green rod shooting gun with a horizontal mag. It has a standard pulling back firing pin, but the magazine is a whole other thing.
The magazine detaches from the gun as seen in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th pictures. The magazine is loaded with green rods as seen in pictures 7-11. You then put the magazine back on the gun and pull the firing pin back.
In case you didn't already know, there aren't any green rods loaded into the firing chamber. You load them in one at a time using a technique seen in pictures 17-22. What is being shown in the pictures is you pull down an attached magazine push in the magazine until you can slightly tilt back the gun until a green rod slides onto the top of the push. You then proceed to push it back up to put a green rod in the firing chamber.
This method ensures minimum friction on the green rod so it shoots the best it can. The barrel on the front actually has some use, it guides the green rod so it shoots perfectly straight, also using the minimum amount of friction possible.
The reason I didn't make an auto loading mechanism that pulls down the magazine push down when you pull the pin back was to demonstrate how small you could make a horizontal mag gun like this. This design is very compact, and packs a punch still.
Because green rods are so small, this gun is not an ideal one for using outside, as green rods are hard to find in grass. But if you are using it on cement, the green rods are very easy to find.
This gun is based loosely on a gun from the upcoming game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The gun is called the PP90M1. It has a horizontal magazine that comes off in the same fashion.
This gun is very innovative. It incorporates a compact design with a horizontal removable mag. The gun is quite powerful for it's size, shooting up to ranges of around 45 feet.
That's about it. If you have any questions, please comment!
*I will hopefully be making an instructable for this gun also, as a lot of people dislike it when people post slideshows of cool guns and don't make instructables for them.

I remember i made a sniper that used something like this
The ammo would be pushed down a barrel by a rod with a rubber band to the area where it loads, and when you wanted to load a rod, you pull the ram, pull the pushy thing to let a rod come on top of it, then push it back up to be loaded into the firing area.
It worked like a block trigger. But i could never get it to work without messing up every once in a while. which is why i never really posted it, you have done a way better job than me ;)

Ah, Really? I kind of thought that I wasn't the only person that had thought of this, but I didn't think anyone would mention that they tried it!
Well.. With improper use, mine does mess up sometimes, but properly used it doesn't mess up. Haha, yeah, I see ;)
