Introduction: Karak Chai

Today I'm going to show you how to make a simple warming drink. This rich creamy tea is originally from India. It goes perfectly with cookies on a wintery night.

Ingredients

  • 3 English/breakfast tea bags/loose tea
  • 6 cardamom pods, smashed
  • 1 3"-long cinnamon stick
  • 3Tbsp (or more) sugar
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 4 cups hot water
  • saffron (optional)

Step 1: Boiling the Tea

Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a medium pot, then add the tea, cardamom, cinnamon stick, and sugar, and return to boil.

Step 2: Add the Milk

Stir in the evaporated milk, and return to boil again. Making sure it doesn't boil over. Reduce heat, (The longer the tea simmers the stronger and creamier it will be.)

Step 3: Serve

Strain into a cup, and Serve hot with biscuits or snacks.
