Introduction: Keepsake

I'm making a keepsake box out of old wood I had from taekwondo. I am going to use it as a box to keep little items I have in my house to stay more organized. The constraints are parallel and perpendicular.

Supplies

Wood, table saw, miter saw, band saw, sand grinder, safety goggles, and wood glue

Step 1: The Problem

The first step was to find out a problem and come up with a solution. My problem was that I needed a box for the little things that I have in my room. I needed someplace to put them. I was thinking of ideas to help keep me organized and thought of a keepsake.

Step 2: Brainstorm

I had gone on the internet to brainstorm ideas. I thought of different ideas I thought of maybe a shelf and different types of boxes. I came across a homemade keepsake box. I thought it was a good idea because I had spare wood in my house.

Step 3: Solution

For my solution, I decided to make a keepsake out of wood I had just sitting in my house. I made it 4 inches long 3 inches wide and 2.5 inches tall.

Step 4: Onshape(cad)

You have to make an onshape of any cad software. With the onshape you will have all the measurements and dimensions to make sure it looks the right way and the way you want it. You have to build each wall separately and then put them all together. When you build you know you have the measurements correct and it will be easier and faster to build.

Step 5: Cut the Pieces

Measure out the pieces to the exact dimensions from your onshape or whatever cad software you used. You will mark each piece before you start cutting. Once measured use a table saw and band saw to cut out the pieces to the desired measurements. when using the saws be sure to use proper technique and safety precautions.

Step 6: Finishing Touches

Once you have cut all the pieces down to size you will do the finishing touches. Use the sand grinder to get all the pieces that are not exactly accurate. You also will use it to shape the box the way you want to.

Step 7: Put Together Box

You will use wood glue and staples to keep it together. You need to let the wood glue settle first You will then have your box done and complete if needed you and sand it to make it more smooth.
