Introduction: Kenneth Smith Advanced Engineering Unit 2 Apparatus

This apparatus is meant to help prevent the spread of Covid-19 by reducing the amount if time it takes to put on a mask by conveniently having it around your neck. Before you go out next time, make one of these and keep yourself and others safe.

Supplies

  • Any type of face mask(I used a cotton mask)
  • A shoelace(Must fit around your neck and have at least 6 inches extra on each side)
  • 2 Small Binder clips

Step 1: Pick How You Want to Wear Your Mask and Lay It Down So You Put It on However You Want

Get a mask(mine is cotton) and put it on the way you would wear it. Take it off and keep it in the same shape and direction you would wear it

Step 2: Grab a Binder Clip and Attach It to the Elastic Band That Goes Around Your Ears

After you have your mask off your face and shaped and pointed the way you want, grab two small binder clips and attach one to each of the elastic bands that go on and around your ears.

Step 3: Tie the End of the Shoelace to the Point Where the Binder Clip and Elastic Band Meet

By tying the shoelace at the spot where the binder clip and elastic band meet, you ensure that the mask can be secure while you wear the product around your neck

Step 4: Wear the Shoelace Around Your Neck and Stay Safe

Just put the product around your neck as if it was a necklace and you can ensure that you will be able to put your mask on faster and help slow the spread of Covid-19.

Step 5: Purpose of the Product

The purpose of creating this product is to slow down the spread of covid-19. When I go outside, it is common to see folks walking outside without a mask and these people only put on their masks when they see people come towards them. These people tend to take a long time to put their masks on that they take out of their pockets and they are putting themselves at risk for receiving and giving the virus. This product reduces the amount of time it takes to put on a mask by having it close to your face already and in a position that only requires one swift motion to put on.
