Introduction: Keychain Macrame Sunset

About: Hi everyone! When I met this website I didn't doubt to register to start sharing, commenting, learning and participating. I hope you like my publications! You guys are great!

Hi! I'll try to explain how to read this pattern to make this keychain, really is not as difficult as it seems. With this type of pattern you can make any keychain, with the design that you like.

Supplies

For making this pattern:

  • 6 yellow strings of 40 cm.
  • 1 yellow string of 70 cm.
  • Approximately 1 meter of light blue, blue, dark blue, purple, fuchsia, orange, yellow, navy blue. The length depends on how much string you use of that color.
  • Cardboard, clothespin.
  • Grid, colors, pen, pencil, scissor, liquid glue or lighter.

Step 1: Pattern

My pattern has 14x20 squares, each square is a knot. I tried to make a sunset. Color it and mach every color with a string.

Step 2: Eyelet Knot

Take the long string and make that knot, right in the middle, on the strings.

Step 3: Eyelet Knot

Place the strings vertically and the knot's strings horizontally, make this knot:

Start making a "4" ABOVE the strings, pass it under and squeeze it. (Only one time)

After that make the "4" again, BUT passing the string UNDER the other strings, after above the strings and squeeze it. (Only one time)

If you follow the picture it will be easier. Make each knot 7 times (Above, under, above, under...) , 14 in total.

Step 4: Eyeley Knot

Flip it so the string is on the right. Make the same as in the previous step BUT in mirror mode. Now it's a "P" form. First ABOVE the strings and after UNDER the strings.

Step 5: Basics Knots

From here you have to know this knots, the "4" and the "P". (Double)

When you go from left to right you'll use the "4". First make one knot, tighten it and make the other knot.

When you go from right to left you'll use the "P". First make one knot, tighten it and make the other knot.

Step 6: Eyelet Knot

Take the string on the left and make the "4" (double) on each string on the left.

Take the string on the right and make the "P" (double) on each string on the right.

In the middle make the "4" (double) to close the eyelet.

Here we have the base strings, it is like our canvas. On this we will make the other knots.

Step 7: Start Pattern

Take the first color on your pattern and make a simple knot. After that, make the "4" (double) to go from left to right. Each knot (double) it's a square. The first three lines of my pattern are light blue.

Step 8: Change Direction

Make the "P" (double) to go from right to left.

Step 9: Change Color

Simply, put it next to the base strings and add it by making a "4" or a "P" (double). In this case is a "P" (double).

Step 10: Change Color in the Middle

It's the same than in previous step, but starting in fourth string (depends on your pattern).

Step 11: Keep Working

When you finish to use a color completely, you can cut it letting a little long.

Step 12: Back

Make normal knots twice in all colors and cut the excess. Put liquit glue on knots.

Step 13: Triangles

Split the strings in half. Start making "4" (double) 6 times with the first string and don't use this string more.

Take second string and make "P" (double) 5 times.

"4" (double) 4 times.

"P" (double) 3 times.

"4" (double) 2 times.

"P" (double) 1 time.

Make the same on the right side.

You can let fringes and forget this step.

Step 14: Cover the Back

Add liquid glue and cut it. After that, stick with glue a piece of cloth to cover it.

Step 15:

Here I show you another keychain of a meadow.

And... That's it! I hope you like :)
