Kids Cup Pong Game

  Christmas evening, my fiance', 2 son's, and myself went to a good friends home for games and drinks (like every holiday). While being merry their son brought  out a gift from Santa, a game called Cup Ponk (tm). A game that is popular this past holiday season. It consists of a cup, ping pong balls (both with cartoon characters on them) and cards with different kinds of shots pictured on them.
    Naturally my 2 boys wanted a set. But at $15 I said " No Way! I can make that for $5!!!"
So of course my boys challenged me to make a set for them.

    This my first Instructable. Hope it helps and you enjoy it.

Step 1: You Will Need:

 1 or 2 cups - extras from home - $0
 1 pkg. of ping pong balls - $1.99
 Spray Paint - left over from another project - $ .88
 Temporary Tattoos - Boys got a book of 500 for Easter - Free courtesy of Easter Bunny
 Index Cards - Had some laying around - $ .99
 Markers or pens

Step 2: Paint the Cup

 Spray cup your color of choice. Inside and out.

Step 3: Pick Your Tattoos

Pick out your favorite designs from the tattoo book. Make sure they are small enough to fit on the ping pong balls nicely. Apply as if you were putting on your kids.

         - Pull clear plastic off of tattoo
         - Place on ping pong ball
         - Press down firmly with damp cloth or sponge for 30 - 45 seconds
         - Remove cloth and gently remove paper backing , smooth tattoo if necessary ( If smoothing is needed, I discovered that placing under running water works better)
          - let dry.

Step 4: Making the Shots

     This step my boys enjoyed the most. They concocted their own shots and drew them on the index cards. Adding points to the shots and / or difficulty ratings.

Step 5: Set Up and Test Your Skill

Set up the shots on the cards and test your skill. The one shot in picture is a basic one bounce into cup, the other is bounced off a pot and in. See who can make it in the first try or the least amount.

what about the foam insert and the plastic fingers inside the cup to prevent bounce-out? suggestions

I actually did not think about those. Thanks. I have alot of foam from other stuff I have done. Maybe cut a piece size of bottom of cup and glue in. Thank you for the suggestion I will post a update when I get it done.

This game is surprisingly fun especially if you really try to challenge yourself with the "tricks". My girlfriend got it for me for Christmas on a sale so I know she spent a lot less than $15. One thing you could add to this that mine included is a ramp that attaches to the lid for certain tricks.

I did note this after playing awhile. And the cups you buy in stores have a groove that the collar fits into. I am actually trying to figure out how to do this. Thanks for the comment and suggestion.
