Intro: Kinetic Phone Charger

2020 has been a really bad year for everyone, the only left to happen is a global power cut.

I am going to show you how to make your own a phone charger fuil with movement.

In this project cardboard is used to make the cover.

STEP 1: Head Charger

Open the head charger and take the motherboard. Then cut the cables that are sold in the region specific power connector.

STEP 2: Making the Handle

I used a broken metal hanger to make the handle. If it does not fit (is too small) on the hole of the motor add some silicone.

Remember that as much bigger is the handle (radium of the circle) less force you would do .

STEP 3: Soldering to the Motor

I soldered 2 longer cables where there used to be the ones connected to the region specific power connector. And then soldered it to the motor as shown on the picture.

STEP 4: Glue

Introduce a toilet roll to the motor, glue it to the dynamo (the port should stand out a bit).

And stick the motherboard to the toilet roll, then add a lot of silicone all over the motherboard excepting the led and the USB port.

I also added some glue to the cable, so it does not move anymore.

STEP 5: Kitchen Cardboard Roll

Cut the kitchen roll. It should have a bigger diameter that the sum of the motor diameter and the motherboard height, to it fit correctly.

I made a hole on the led that have the head charger (it does not have to have always a led).

STEP 6: Stuff

I refill the empty space with cardboard (toilet paper is another option), because when you grab it you will make pressure and if it is full the cardboard roll won't deform.

STEP 7: Taps

I make 2 circles of cardboard to cover the handle and the USB port.

In the USB port circle I made a hole for the port, and on the handle one I made a hole for the handle as shown.

STEP 8: Carboard Handle

I made the most exact cylinder I could with cardboard to cover the crank.

STEP 9: Add Insulating Tape and DONE!!!

Yes, I love black. But I covered with insulating tape not just to make it seen beautiful, also to make it as much waterproof as possible.

Now you can survive to a global power cut with your phone and its endless battery.
