Introduction: Kolu Steps
Kolu(Golu) is the festive display of dolls and figurines in South India during the autumn festive season, particularly around the multiday Navaratri (Dussehra, Dasara) festival of Hindus.
Step 1: Materials Needed
- 2 stair stringers example https://www.homedepot.com/p/5-Step-Ground-Contact-...
- bunch of scrap 2x4, 2x6 pieces
- Plywood or OSB sheet (4x8)
- Regular 2 inch screws and Kregg screws
Step 2: Kreg Jigg the Stringer
In Order for stair stringers to stand, I used 2x6 spare piece.Used Kregg Jig as I wanted it be fully dismantled at the end.
Step 3: Add Stringer to 2x4
Used 2x4 to keep pair of stringers up. I used kregg but can use regular screw to butt joint them.
Step 4: Cut Plywood or OSB Sheet Into 1x4
Get full sheet of plywood and get it cut it 1 feet wide by 4 feet long. Get 5 slabs. Since I wanted to build a 5 step kolu
Step 5: Sand , Paint and Screw
place the slabs on the stair stringers and center it. Screw them using 1.5 to 2 inch screws. Sand or paint if desired.
