Introduction: LEAD ACID BATTERY CHARGER

About: working as a college professor.

LEAD ACID BATTERY CHARGER

This circuit be lead acid battery charger again interesting instructable,
Because it can charger get both of 12V sizes and 6V. By change with switch only and this circuit charging with current about 1Amp. When see the circuit you will think us uses integrated number highly popular circuit be LM317K again. By when you Close SW1 make can charger battery 6V get. Which have voltage come out about 7 Volt. But enough Open SW1 as a result use charging battery 12 V get. Which give volt come out about 14Volt supposing that you use battery 6V 10Ah take time charging current 10 long ago hour.

Step 1: Required Components & Tools

COMPONENTS

1.Old FM cabinet

2.15V ,3A step down transformer -1 no

3.Diode 1N5400 -4 no's

4.Diode MBR1545-2no's

5.capacitor2200uf, 63V- 1 no

6.capacitor 47uf,63v -2 no's

7.Resistor 2.2 k ohm,1.8 k ohm,220 ohm 1/2 watts- each one number

8. 5 Amp switch -1 no

9.Regulator IC LM317K with heat sink- 1 no

10.General purpose PCB - small size

11.Screw's- to fix transformer

12.wire-as required.

TOOLS:

1.Soldering kit

2.wire stripper & cutter.

3.Screw driver

Step 2: Circuit Diagram

The diode D3 and D4 help protect voltage turn back from battery get. The detail is other see in the circuit.

Step 3: Making of Circuit Board

just take general purpose PCB & cut it as you required in size then place all the components on the PCB & solder it everything as per the circuit diagram also refer the attached images for more clarification.

Note:- make sure all the components have placed properly and there is no short circuit in the PCB connection

Step 4: Placing the Switch,connectors,PCB & Transformer

now take that old FM cabinet ..that cabinet it self have two connectors so i am going to use that as a out put point & near these connectors there is a space to fix the switch then i fixed it ...

next place the transformer on bottom of the cabinet , near the transformer place the PCB after placed the PCB connect the out put to output connector then connect the power cable to transformer primary side....

Step 5: Painting

now its time to paint our old FM ...just paint any colour as your wish....

Step 6: Testing
