Introduction: LED Analog Wall Clock Using Arduino
This is LED analog wall clock using Arduino
Step 1: Bill of Materials
Components used for this project are given below:
1_Arduino Nano * 1
2_CD 4017 IC's * 18
3_ 7408 IC's *04
4_NPN transistor* 12
5_Red LED's * 300
6_Blue LED's * 240
7_Hard Board 50cm*50cm
8_connecting wires
Step 2: How It Works
Its working principle is so simple. Here we will discuss the purpose of each component in detail:
1.Arduino Nano:
The main purpose to use Arduino here is to produce 1Hz clock signal precisely to feed the CD 4017IC to run SECONDS hand.We can also use 555 timer IC to produce 1 Hz signal but it will be not accurate and precise.if we use 555 timer Ic the time will become wrong after few days depending on temperature of the envoirnment. The best 1Hz clock generator is arduino. Arduino nano is used in this project because of its small size
2.CD4017 :
Cd4017 decade counter is used to run each seconds and minute hand column one by one.
3.AND gate 7408:
As 8 decade counter CD 4017 ic is used for seconds hand and 8 ics are used to run minute hand and 2 ic's are used to run hours displays. to cascade CD4017 IC we use AND gate ic 7408.
Step 3: Drilling the Hard Board
As shown in the image.3mm drill hole was made to insert red and blue LED's. 540 drill hole was made is circular pattern as shown in the photo. The led column pattern was made as follow:
RED>BLUE>RED>BLUE>RED>BLUE>RED>BLUE>RED
there are 5 red leds and 4 blue led in each column.Red leds are connected parallel to each others. Same as Blue Leds
