I wanted to make a mask with lace but could find no instructions so I made it up as I went along and it turned out rather well.

You will need

Lace, make sure it isn't stiff and wider is better.
White glue, mix 2/3 part white glue and 1/3 water
Plastic mask as a frame
Scissors
Container to mix the glue and water in, a resealable one helps.
Something to wash the glue from your hands...it will get messy.

Step 1: Choose Your Lace

I used some soft wide lace that I thought looked nice, but I think you should be able to use what ever lace you like.

Step 2: Choose Your Mask

I used a plastic dollar store mask as a frame, I like how it fit my face and the glue didn't stick to the frame.

Step 3: Setting It Up

Cut the strips of lace a little longer then the mask and layer one strip at a time, dip the lace in the glue and water mix and work it around so the glue gets all mixed into it then squeeze most of it out.

Smooth out the lace and lay it on the frame, in the first picture you can see that I lay two strips along the mask making sure that it overlapped so it would dry glued together.

Carefully lay it on the plastic mask and make sure that it lays flat against the form so when it drys it will keep the shape. see picture #2

My first try I used two strips of lace but it was too week, so my next attempt I doubled up the strips of lace making sure they over lapped in the middle so that it would all hold together.

Don't apply so much glue that it's dripping, but make sure you use enough that it will hold the lace together.

Let it sit at least over night to dry, preferably give it a day or so just to be sure.

Step 4: Finishing Up

Once you've sure it's dry carefully peel it off and if it's keeping it's form then you can gently cut out the eye holes.

Punch small holes to make little slits on the sides for ribbons if you wish to use toes to hold it on your face, or you can glue gun a stick to the side of you prefer to have a hand held mask.

I think I might add some kind of edging to smooth it out, but you can decorate it as you wish.

The end result was a very light breathable mask that won't leave you sweating at your masquerade like other masks tend to do.
