Introduction: Laser Engraved Wood Sign

i've always wanted to put up a sign in the shed at home that says its my work shop so my mum would know that well that its my work shop

Step 1: Step 1: Materials

first i had to found wood to make the sign, so i looked around at work and found a wooden pallet i checked to see

if the pallet was good enough to use, which i was and stripped the pallet and ended up useing three peaces of

wood planks

Step 2: Step 2: Measuring

once i was satisfied with the planks of wood i measured

all the planks of wood the two peaces and the two supporting peaces

once i got the ruff measurements i marked it with a pensil ready to cut

Step 3: Step 3: Cutting

once i got the ruff measurements i jumped on the band saw and cut were i marked with the pensil and did that to both the supporting peaces and main peaces

after it was cut i went on the disc sander and made them exactly the right size

Step 4: Step 4: Nailing It Together

once all the peaces were messured and cut

i proseded with putting it together

i got eight peaces of nails, i put the two peaces of main planks and put the parallel to each other

and made sure the were exactly the same size

once they were i put the supporting peaces on the back of it

p put four on one peaces and for on the other so the peace once i did i got a puncture and pushed the nails in further and covered it with puddy

Step 5: Step 5: Sanding

once it was together i need to sane it

so i got a peaces of 80 sand paper and 180 than 200 just to make it smooth

Step 6: Step 6: Jack Plan

i noticed the face of the plank wasn't flat and that would make it hard to lazer cut the sign of so i got the jack plan

and shaved the face so it would became flat which took about 20 solid minutes

Step 7: Step 7: Dafont

i now needed to found the font that i wanted to put of my sign

so went to a wepsite call dafont

i looked under country western

i lookedn at all of than and than i found one the i liked

i saved the front and went of illustrator and wrote what i wanted to say

Step 8: Step 8: Illustrator

once i got the font that i wanted i

made up a template similar to the wooden sign

once i did that put my font on the template and made it so it lined up ready to laser cut onto the wooden sign

Step 9: Step 9: Laser Cutting

once the template ready to go

i got a thin peaces of wood and tested if it would come out okay

Step 10: Step 10: for Real

once i knew it was good to go and it wpuld come out good

i put my wooden sign in the laser cutter and waited

once it was done i lacerd it to make it look good
