  • balloons
  • white tissue paper
  • white glue
  • plastic cups
  • acrylic paint is orange, black, and grey
  • thin black marker
  • rules or cups of different sizes for tracing
  • tinfoil
  • clay
  • wire
  • hot glue
  • thin cardboard
  • flashlight

TOOLS

  • knife
  • scissors
  • hot glue gun

Step 1: Making the Body and Head

Blow up two balloons. One should be around 23 inches in circumference and the other should be 15 inches in circumference. Add tape to the larger balloon to make it more spherical if necessary. Mix together white glue and warm water in a 1 to 1 ratio. Paint a layer of the mixture onto each balloon and add a layer of white tissue paper. Continue alternating between layers of glue and paper until the balloon appears fully white (mine took about 13 layers). The large balloon will need covered fully but the small only needs covered 3/4 of the way down. Allow to dry on top of a cup for 24 hours or until fully dry.

Step 2: Taking Out the Balloons

Poke each balloon with a toothpick or needle. Remove the ballon from the small one through the bottom that isn’t covered, for the larger balloon cut a small hole in one side of the ballon and carefully remove the balloon. You should have two “shells” as shown above.

Step 3: Starting the Body

Using a large cup approximately 4 inches across draw 6 equally spaced circle on the larger balloon or the “body”. One in the top one on bottom and 4 equals spaced around the side.

Step 4: First Circle

Each circle will be painted and detailed individually, but will start with the same 3 steps.

1:With a smaller cup 3 inches across trace a circle inside of the first circle

2: then add 4 equally spaced shapes on the inside of the smaller circle as shown

3: paint this area orange and allow to dry

4:outline the edges and add a small circle or “screw” on the ends of each shape as shown

This is where each will differ slightly so dry to match the marking in each picture as best as you can

Add the marks shown above into the orange ring

Next add the shapes in the middle of the circle and fill in with grey or silver paint

Finally add the outlining and details with black marker into the grey areas.

Step 5: Second Circle

Add the marks shown above into the orange ring

Next add the shapes in the middle of the circle and fill in with grey or silver paint

Finally add the outlining and details with black marker into the grey areas.

Step 6: Third Circle

Add the marks shown above into the orange ring

Next add the shapes in the middle of the circle and fill in with grey or silver paint

Finally add the outlining and details with black marker into the grey areas.

Step 7: Fourth Circle

Add the marks shown above into the orange ring

Next add the shapes in the middle of the circle and fill in with grey or silver paint

Finally add the outlining and details with black marker into the grey areas.

Step 8: Fifth Circle

this circle will be facing down and mostly covered by the base so simply paint the entire circle orange and outline with a black marker

Step 9: Sixth Circle

Add the marks shown above into the orange ring

Next add the shapes in the middle of the circle and fill in with grey or silver paint

Finally add the outlining and details with black marker into the grey areas.

Step 10: Final Details

this is all done with the black marker

add a line connecting the circles to each one next to it the lines should be drawn where the circles are closest together.

add a small circle to the side of each line near the middle

add three small lines coming off one of the circles

and one larger bracket coming off a different circle

repeat in each triangular space as shown

Step 11: Starting Head

using the smaller shell cut it about half way so you have a half domed shape

gently fold the bottom in about half an inch to create a small ledge towards the bottom middle

next create the eyes and antennas

make two small half domes with tinfoil the bigger should be 1 inches across and the smaller should be .5 inches across

cover in clay bake according to package and paint black

for the antennas take two pieces of wire one 1.5 inches long and one 1 inches long

paint the longer one black and the shorter one white

glue all pieces together as shown

Step 12: Head Continued

Add the marks shown around the eyes with a thin black marker
Add color to the ring around the small eye and orange to the small square
Along the bottom edge of the head draw rectangles of different sizes paint them orange and add a black outline

Step 13: Head Continued

using the same cup used for the big circles ad a ring on the top of the head

add an inner ring inside the big circle that is about .5 inches smaller

paint the ring grey and add equally spaced lines around it as shown

underneath the grey rings add a thin orange ring outline in black

Step 14:

using thin cardboard cut out a circle 5 inches across and paint black

glue the body in the middle of the circle with the fully painted or fifth circle down

cut a small hole about the size of a quarter where the head will go and glue the head over top

in the bottom of the back of the body cut out a circle big enough to hold your flashlight

place the front or top of the flashlight in the hole and watch your robot lights up!!!!

Step 15:

place in desired area and watch the darkside flee from your amazing new light!!
