Lollipop Guy ~ Watercolor Painting Process

In this Instructable I will show the painting process of my latest illustration.

Step 1: Skin

Before starting I ink the drawing and erase pencil strokes.

I paint the skin with orange / red and purple, using several layer of paint.

Step 2: Jacket

I paint wet on wet the base colors of the jacket (grey and red).

When paint dried, I add shadows with darker colors (blue / purple).

Step 3: Pants + Shoes

I paint the first wash wet on wet with black (for pant) and red (for shoes).

When paint dried, I add new layers of colors.

For the pants I paint shadows in blue and black, while for the shoes I used white gouache, dark red and blue.

Step 4: White Reflections + Background

I paint white reflections with white gouache, using it with a dip pen.

I also use the same technique for drawing seams of the clothes.

For the background I paint wet on wet using black and indigo colors, leaving empty spots all over the color stains.

Step 5: End!
