First of all, I want to say that I don't write English very well, sorry for my mistakes in the text. But I think that it's clear with the pictures. Thank you for your patience.

In this instructable I show the way to make a free puzzle with wooden hexagons. I called free puzzle because all pieces match each others, although in this case, according to the way we put the pieces reduces the chances. The aim of this puzzle is to create maps of islands, to do it the islands have to be close by the black line.

Inspirated by the board game called "tantrix", in which you have to connect hexagonal pieces.

En este instructable muestro la manera de hacer un puzzle libre con hexágonos de madera. Un puzzle libre es un puzzle en el que todas las piezas encajan con todas, aunque en este caso, según cómo vayamos completándolo se van reduciendo las posibilidades de colocar las fichas. La finalidad de este puzzle es crear mapas de islas, para hacerlo bien las islas tienen que estar cerradas por la línea negra.

Este juego está un poco inspirado en el juego de mesa "tantrix", en el cual tienes piezas hexagonales y tienes que unir todas las líneas de colores.

White glue and water

Step 1: Draw the Line

Maybe this is the most important step. We need to mark the centre of two sides like in the first picture. But depending on the piece we will to mark on different sides, its more clear if you see the second and third picture.
The numbers mean the number of pieces that we need to make, but you can make more pieces than me.

Quizá este es el paso más importante. Tenemos que medir el centro de dos lados de los hexágonos como se ve en la primera imagen, tal y como se ve en la segunda imagen:

del primer tipo de pieza yo he hecho 9 piezas iguales pero con diferente forma, del segundo tipo de pieza he hecho 10, etc.

Step 2: Paint

We are going to paint the earth part, to do this we need to put dark green under the pencil line and brown in the other side to make a gradient.

The same with the sea, light blue on the pencil line and dark blue in the other side.

Finally, paint the line with the black marker.

Vamos a pintar la parte de la tierra, para hacerlo ponemos verde oscuro debajo de la línea de lápiz y marrón en el otro lado para hacer un degradado.

Lo mismo para el mar, azul claro en la línea del lápiz y azul oscuro en la otra parte.

Finalmente, repasamos la línea con rotulador negro.

Step 3: Do All Pieces

I have done this number of pieces, but I repeat, the quantity is flexible.

Yo he hecho este número de piezas, pero repito, la cantidad es flexible.

Step 4: The Box

Take the pringles can, I sculpted "MAPAX" (the name of the game) on the can with silicone, although there are differents ways to do this.

In second place, mix water and white blue at the same rate. Cover the can with the mixure and the toilet paper.

Let dry, paint it and add details like you want.

Coge el bote de pringles, yo esculpí "MAPAX" (el nombre del juego) en el bote con silicona, aunque hay diferentes maneras de hacer esto.

En segundo lugar, mezcla agua y cola blanca en la misma proporción. Cubre el bote con la mezcla y papel higiénico.

Deja secar, píntalo y añade detalles como te guste.

Step 5: Instructions

There are different ways to play, this is flexible too.

For kids: I propose a free puzzle, the only rule is finish the island closing by the black line.

For teenagers and adults: I propose 1 vs 1, the pieces are face down and mixed. Alternatively the players take the pieces one by one until complete their map each one.

Hay diferentes maneras de jugar, esta parte también es flexible.

Para los niños: propongo un puzzle libre, la única regla es terminar la isla cerrándola por línea negra.

Para adolescentes y adultos: propongo un uno contra uno, las piezas están boca abajo y mezcladas. De forma alternativa los jugadores cogen una pieza cada uno hasta completar su mapa cada uno.
