Introduction: ME470 Suppressor Flow
This is a demonstration of Solidworks Flow simulation in the application of contained pressure waves. The videos outline the design considerations in the model as well as setup and results of the flow simulation.
Step 1: Find or Build a Model
Starting with your chosen model, whether you designed it or found it on GrabCAD, you must decide what type of flow it would be subjected to. If it is an enclosed vessel, is the fluid flow internal or external?
Step 2: Simulation Setup
Following the instructions of the flow simulation wizard, setup is extremely easy.
Step 3: Waiting
Depending on the mesh and size of computation you require, these simulations might take more than 5-7 hours. Be prepared to wait for good results. A good tip is to run a simulation with longer time steps and/or coarser meshes to get a rough idea of a result. You can then work with the imperfect results while you wait for better data.
Step 4: Results
Finally, after the simulation has run, you will be able to plot and animate all your results. This is outlined in the videos and is also an easy process with the animation wizard tool.
