Introduction: MOUSETRAP COSTUME!

A mouse trap costume is a relatively simple and very fun costume to make. All you really need is half inch pvc, some climbing rope, 1/4 inch plywood, and some chloroplast.

Step 1: Cutting Out Parts

This part of the project isnt to hard. first things first cut your plywood to 3'10.5'' by 1'9.75''

now cut a head hole that you think would be comfortable for you

Step 2: Smaller Parts

this next step is all about the details that make your costume looks like a moustap.

a pressure plate, branding ect.

I chose to design mine after a victor mouse trap which sports a bright yellow pressure pad. I made this out of fluted plastic sheets, but cardboard or thick paper could work as well.

Step 3: Making the Bail and Spring

next up is your spring and bail!

as a prop spring I used thick rope.

and I used pvc tubing to make my bail.

I first cut the bail to size (23.25 inches by 1'9.75'') used ninety degree corners, to form into a square.

I then wrapped the rope around the pvc (you played around with length to get the look you want)

Step 4: ASSEMBLY!!!

Now you can see your trap come together. I started out by mounting my pressure pad. I found about where i wanted it then used a speed square and ruler to get it strait and on center. Next I found my center line and mounted my bail with spring. If you can find them I recommend pipe clamps to hold your bail assembly, but I used parachute cord for mine and it worked out fine. A dab of hot glue on the tip of the rope is plenty secure for holding it in place.

Now to an imperfect solution, i decided to use parachute cord once again to hold the mousetrap to myself, but i think a harness of old back pack straps would be better. But in a pinch the paracord worked well.
