Introduction: Make Cheap and Cheerful Paper Flowers in 30 Minutes to Celebrate Cinquo De Mayo!
Maybe you don't think you can make paper flowers! Well you can! With this method and a few cheap supplies you can make some very cheerful looking flowers very easily. You can make at least 15 of these flowers at a cost of well under $10, - if you check out the bargains at your local dollar store!
Step 1: Check Your Supplies.
You will need
Tissue paper ($1 for a 30-sheet pack)
2 or 3 packs of florist wire (pre-cut) ($1 a pack of 9)
scotch tape ($1 for a double roll pack)
scissors ($1 - because you don't won't to mess up your "good scissors" by cutting paper!
Step 2: How to Begin
Take two sheets of your tissue paper - any colour.
Fold in half
Fold in half again
Fold in half again!
Fold in half yet again!
Fold again, you now have a square shape
Fold diagonally to form a triangle
Step 3: Identify Your Inner Corner
Identify your inner corner. This is important as you don't want to cut in the wrong place. Once this has been identified cut round the outside in a rounded fashion. Please refer to picture.
Step 4: Your Circular Shape
Open up the triangular shape and you will find you have 8 identical circular shapes (unless of course you did not identify the inner corner correctly, when you will end up with a lot of weird shapes that will have to be thrown away)
Separate the circles.
Step 5: Take One Circle
Take the first of the eight circles by the middle and pinch it slightly to form a flower shape (see picture). Attach the middle of the flower securely with scotch tape to the tip of one of the floral wires.
Step 6: Form the Flower Head
Continue to take each circle in the same way and attach each one to the florist wire, one at a time until you have a ball- like creation. Rotate slightly as you attach, filling in any gaps you may see. You now have your first "flower".
Step 7: Make More Flowers!
You can now make more flowers, in the same colour or different colours, depending on what tissue paper you bought. You can also mix up the colours, so they end up with two or more colours in each flower! Sometimes garish is better! (Sometimes it's not!)
Step 8: Now Take a Suitable Vase and Adorn It With Your Flowers
Place your finished flowers in your vase, and hey presto you have achieved cheap and cheerful flowers in the twinkling of an eye! Just in time for Cinquo de Mayo!
Step 9: Finally....
All you have to do now is decide what you are going to do with the left over tissue paper. My vote is to recycle it....... but how?

you could put it in the vace..... but then it would be Cinco De Mayo flowers on steroids lol :)

Very timely! :-) Not sure how useful it is to recycle those tissue paper scraps, considering the fairy extreme color vs paper ratio. You definitely wouldn't want to mix it in with that nice white office paper... Might make for some very colorful confetti though, if you own a shredder. You could probably also make some beautiful hand-dipped paper with this stuff - what better way than to recycle the paper yourself, and at least then the colors may be an asset...

Sure. There really isn't all that much more that you can illustrate with these guys.
Note that you could also do two-colored flowers, by wrapping one color around another (ooh - hard! ;-)

I like to do black and pink that way, but they didn't have those colours at the dollar store!

I would cut the left over tissue paper in very little pieces and throw a party to use it as confetti!!!! LOL.

When you fold the paper, it's the corner of your square that has no outer edges of the paper anywhere near it. All the other corners are adjacent to the edges of the paper!
