## Introduction: Make Your Diet Count

Nowadays, the topic of "health" had become well known and discuss. Going on a diet is a hard task for most people, many of them decide to give up on it due to the food's temptation. The purpose of making this machine is to increase the success of the rate on diet, by using this machine the subject will be shown an unfriendly quote of eating those unhealthy snacks this allows them to think more thoroughly about the consequence of eating the food. Diet will no longer be a hard time for the subject, this will also give them opportunities to eat fresh and healthy in the future.

## Step 1: Prepare the Materials

## Step 2: Make the Code

In order to upload the code to your Arduino, you will need to attach a USB cable to your computer so that the code will function properly.

A0= Photoresistor

D13 = Yellow Light

D12 = Red Light

D9 = Yellow Light

D8 = Red Light

D7 = Yellow Light

Tone(11, 440, 1000)= The sounds the buzzer will make

## Step 3: Assemble the Circuit

Power:

+ to GND, - to 5V (in order to power Arduino Leonardo)

LED:

Long leg led light - wire to D13 (orange)

Short leg led light - connect left resistance leg on the same row, use wire to connect the right leg to negative(-)

Long leg led light - wire to D12 (red)
Short leg led light - connect left resistance leg on the same row, use wire to connect the right leg to negative(-)

Long leg led light - wire to D9 (orange)
Short leg led light - connect left resistance leg on the same row, use wire to connect the right leg to negative(-)

Long leg led light - wire to D8 (red)
Short leg led light - connect left resistance leg on the same row, use wire to connect the right leg to negative(-)

Long leg led light - wire to D7 (orange)
Short leg led light - connect left resistance leg on the same row, use wire to connect the right leg to negative(-)

Photoresistor detect:

Left leg Photoresistor connects to positive (+)

Right leg Photoresistor connects with resistance on the same row

Left leg resistance connect the wire to A0

Right leg resistance connects to negative (-)

Horn:

Red/Green Wire on horn connect to GND

Black Wire on horn connect to D11

## Step 4: Find Some Heartless Quote and Print & Glue

In order to encourage the subject not to eat snacks, try to find some heartless quotes online, for me I used several quotes from http://www.1juzi.com/new/94113.html. Some of them were really ruthless and some of them were inspiring. Try to be creative and make your own diet's quote! After finding the quote, I will print it out and glue some of them on the machine. While the subject opens the snack box, they will see those quotes that made them leave the food alone.

## Step 5: Cut the Box- Make a Door & Switch

Making door:

Cut a door for the snack box by scissor. Therefore, the subject can open and close the box to grab some snacks.

The door should be like the video shown above.

Making switch:

Cut some holes on the cardboard, cut a popsicle stick into half, and install and tape the two sticks into the hole given. Make sure there aren't any thorn leftover on the stick if you are worried, I will suggest you tape some foam on it. After inserting the stick tie a rubber band over the two sticks so that a easy switch is formed.

## Step 6: Decoration the Box & Assemble Arduino Board

My Decoration:

1. Tape black color paper all over the box

2. Stick those quotes that were just print on the box

3. Write huge and eye-catching words about diet on the box

Assemble Arduino:

Despite the fact that the my machine contains a horn and led light bulb so arranging spaces will be difficult.

1. I decide to put the led light at the bottom of the open door, I first cover tape the wire tightly on the board so that I can save more spaces for making the led light and photoresistor visible and got the function of detecting light.

2. By fixing the LED and photoresistor with the groove hole at the bottom of the door, there will be no problem for detecting light and making warning light for the subject.

3. For the horn, I decided to tape it on the exterior side of the box. So the sound spread wider to the surrounding.

## Step 7: Try It Out!!

Procedure to operate the machine:

1. Uninstall the rubber band

2. Open the door

3. Look at the quote that sticks on the paper

4. Warning light and horn start functioning

5. You will be caught by your family members e and be grounded by the reason of "Eating snack while you are going on diet, violate and despise the hard work done in the past few minutes/hours/days/weeks... "

6. You're done!!
