Introduction: Make a Model of the Hubble Telescope.

In this Instructable I will be showing you how to create a model of the Hubble Telescope.

Materials

- Aluminum Foil

- Clear Plastic Sheets

- Paper Towel Rolls

- Chop Sticks (or other kinds of wooden sticks)

- Clear Tape

- A Yellow or Orange Marker (optional)

Tools

- Scissors

- Ruler

Step 1: The Main Body

To create the body of the model we will need a paper towel roll and aluminum foil. First, cut the paper towel roll to a length of 4 1/2 inches. Next, you will need to cover it with foil. Fold the extra over the sides. To make the solar arrays of the telescope you will need a 2 pieces of clear plastic, each 7 by 1 3/4 inches long. Now we need to cover it in foil. Take a piece that is 7 3/4 by 5 inches. Fold the foil in half and cut one indent on each side. When you cover the plastic, you should have extra foil hanging over the sides, fold it over the sides to keep the foil on. Finally, color it with the marker for the extra effect.

Step 2: Attaching the Solar Arrays

For this step, you will need two chop sticks or any thin stick. Cut the sticks to be 5 inches long each and poke holes in the sides of the body to fit them through. Cover the chop sticks with foil. Tape the sticks together on the inside of the body. Next, slide the array over the chop sticks

Step 3: The Thick Body

Next, cut out a piece of clear plastic 11 by 2 inches for the rest of the body. Make a hook at one end and a slit about 2 1/4 inches from the opposite end for the hook to fit in. The slit should be about 1 1/2 inches long. Attach the hook and the slit to make a ring. The diameter should be about 2 1/2 inches. Cover the cuff in foil, and, as always, fold the extra foil onto the inside.

Step 4: Attaching the Ends

Take the cuff and tape the inside to the inside of the other half. Cut a circle of clear plastic and cover the end of the big thick part of the model, and connect it with tape.

Step 5: Finishing Touches
