Make a Moving Koi Fish Pond With a Clock Repair Kit

Supplies

Clear plastic

Clock repair kit

Origami koi fish, made here: https://www.instructables.com/Origami-Koi-Fish/

Origami lily pad, made here: https://www.instructables.com/Giant-Lily-Pad-Paper-Art/

Step 1: Cut Plastic

Cut a strip of plastic that is slightly wider than the width of the second hand in the clock kit. Drill 3-4 holes on one side of the strip.

Step 2: Secure Plastic

Poke the second hand through holes to secure the strip. You might need to cut of the tip off depending on the shape of the second hand of the clock repair kit.

Step 3: Secure to Motor

Attach the second hand to the clock kit's motor.

Step 4: Attach Koi

Attach Koi fish to the other end of the plastic strip with tape, so the koi fish can "swim!"

Step 5: Support Lily Pad

Cut a paper cup as shown. Tape it under the lily pad so that it stands over the other lily pad.

Step 6: Prop Up Lily Pads

Prop up the dark lily pad as well, so that the mechanisms with fish can fit underneath it.

Step 7: Assemble & Turn On

Hide the mechanisms under the lily pad. Turn on the motor and watch the koi swim!
