Make a Bird Paper Cut Out Tea Light Candle Lamp

Here's a quick project you can do in less then an hour to make a beautiful paper cutout lamp which you can either place over a low wattage bulb or a tea-light candle.

Step 1: Find a Picture You Want to Use on Your Lamp

Once you have your picture chosen you need to open it in the software that came with your cutter, mine is a Silhouette Cameo so I opened it in the Cameo software that came with the machine.

Then adjust your cut settings till you have the main parts of the design showing up nicely.

Step 2: Assemble Your Paper Laminate for the Lamp Shade

To make the lamp paper I used 2 different types of paper joined together with 3M Spray Adhesive.

For the top layer I used this Parchment Paper Roll and for the underneath layer I used a sheet from this Water Color Paper Pad to add strength and diffuse the light nicely, but you of course can use any combination you like if you're in the mood for experimenting.

Simply spray the adhesive onto your thickest paper and then place the thinner one on top. You can stack a few heavy items, such as books on top (you may want to place a layer of scrap paper between the books and the glued paper if you don't want to accidently stick your book to the project!) while it dries to help clamp it and create a nice strong bond.

Step 3: Cut Out Your Design From the Laminated Paper

Feed your newly created laminate paper into your Silhouette Cameo with the baking paper facing up and set your cutting blade to depth setting 1. Then cut out your design and once its finished use your Silhouette Pick Me Up Tool to remove the unwanted bits of paper.

Step 4: Finish Your Lamp

Finally roll your paper into a tube and then you can either glue or staple it in place and place a tea light candle or an electric lamp holder and low wattage bulb (CFL, LED or 40W or less incandescent) in the bottom and you have an attractive little paper lamp.
