Step 1: The Materials

You will need:

Materials
65 grams of KNO3 (Potassium Nitrate)
35 grams of C12H22O11 (Fine Granulated Sugar)
A tablespoon of Na2CO3 (Sodium Bi-Carbonate(Baking Soda))

Tools/Apparatus
A pot not to be used for anything else
A spoon
A stove (Electric is safest)
Something to house the concoction (i.e. Toilet paper roll, playing card, etc)
Some type of ignition material (i.e. Magnesium strip, fuse, etc.)

Optional
Duct tape (to insulate the bomb)
Scissors (to cut the duct tape)
A centigram balance (for accurate measurements)

Step 2: Creating the Mixture

Start by putting the pot on low heat and adding the 35 grams of sugar. After a minute or two, add the 65 grams of Potassium Nitrate. You must constantly stir the two. The sugar will begin to caramelize, and turn brown. After a while, the sugar will become a liquid and will mix with the Potassium Nitrate to form what looks like peanut butter. After the mixture is stirred completely to the consistency of peanut butter, turn off the heat and add the Baking Soda. The mixture will fluff up a bit.

Step 3: Housing the Mixture

Completely cover the bottom of the housing by wrapping it with duct tape. Begin stuffing the housing with as much of the mixture as you can. Once it's filled, stick a pen in the top of the mixture to create a little cave in the mixture for the fuse. Begin wrapping the rest of the housing in duct tape. As you start wrapping the top, remove the pen and insert the fuse.

Step 4: Burning the Bomb

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
Sorry, that message is obligated. Make sure you use common sense, such as not sticking your face over the burning bomb. Watch out, it does occasionally spew out little chunks of fire, and emits a large flame. For lighting a makeshift fuse, you should do as we did and use a blowtorch, to keep your hand as far away as possible from the fire.
